SOLAR ENERGY

SOLAR ENERGY

1. How many main types of clouds are there?
Just one, called cumulus.

2. Can clouds increase solar irradiance reaching a photovoltaic?
Yes, they can, due to a particular phenomenon called Mie scattering

3. Do solar towers that produce energy from the sun work at night?
Not they don't.

4. Which of the three (or combination of) types of solar irradiance do photovoltaics use?
 All three

5. Which one the countries below has the highest solar irradiance potential?

Cyprus

6. Is solar energy the solution?
No, because the solar energy have many fluctuations due to the clouds position.

7. Should more focus be given to better and cheaper batteries to store energy for household use?
Yes, because the battery could save money on energy consumption that is supplied by power stations.

8. If satellite imaging was open-data, and anyone could access it, would that increase the use of solar energy systems?
Yes, because people will have a very useful tool to predict the movement of the clouds.

9. How would the world, as we know it, change, if free energy was available for all?
Traditional power stations would be obsolete.
